Who can apply for these?

Life behind the Lens sessions are for anyone who is looking to capture moments of everyday life. The intention behind these sessions is to honor the everyday routines that are present in your household. My hope is that you think of activities that hold a special place in your heart that could make beautiful keepsakes when documented through photographs. Anyone can sign up: singles, family’s in all stages of child rearing or couples. *Bonus if your family represents diversity in any way.

What types of activities work best?

Truly any, but off the top of my mind here is a list of some options:

1. Cooking a meal together

2. Family games (hide & seek, board games, pillow fights, building forts, etc)

3. Rituals or routines (making tea, reading books, tending to houseplants, etc)

4. Art & crafts

5. Bathing the family pet

6. Bathing the baby

7. Outside activities (walks in the woods, hikes, playing with chalk, throwing a baseball, etc)

8. Reading books together

Sky is the limit! *In the application there is a place to list some of the activities you cherish that you would love to have documented.

What is the timeframe for these sessions & where are they located?

These sessions will likely last about 90 minutes. The point of these sessions is to create art that is reflective of your relationships (even if you are applying as a single). I want you to feel relaxed, comfortable and able to engage with one another & your activity in an authentic way. That’s only going to happen if we allow the pace to be slow and provide space for spontenity, pause and pivots. This also allows you and your family to get comfortable with me so that as the camera comes out things don’t feel forced.

These sessions will be at your home (and don’t worry, your home does NOT need to look perfect nor does the lighting have to be perfect (If natural light isn’t available I have my own equipment that I will bring). Unless we are going on your favorite hike (which I love a good adventure) or to a favorite family location (ice cream shop, bookstore, etc), we will either be in your yard or your home (bc that’s the whole point of these sessions).

What is required and what is included if I am selected?

If you are selected from the model call applicants I will reach out to you for a quick Zoom call to go over everything again and answer any additional questions that you may have. Here is the overview in order to participate if selected:

1. You must be willing to sign a model release and have photos used in my portfolio and for promotion of these sessions

2. You will need to be available sometime between February 1st-February 22nd for your session

3. We can work together to plan how your activity will fit into your session so that you know what to expect ahead of time

4. As a thank you for participating you will receive 7 high-resolution images for free (through an online gallery) and will have the option to purchase your full gallery for a $165 flat rate. You will also receive a print credit that you can use if you would like the option of purchasing professional prints for a gallery wall or an album (I really enjoy these sessions for albums as they tell a story which displays beautifully in a book format).

How do I apply & when is the deadline?

To apply just complete the form below and hit submit. Applications will be accepted from 1/15-1/25. I will be contacting applicants on 1/26/2025 to schedule sessions.
